Terms of Service
Last updated: April 29, 2026
1. Overview
Lore ("the Service") is an AI-powered coding assistant provided as a command-line tool. By using Lore, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Account and Authentication
You create an account by signing in with Google OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and session tokens. One account per person. Do not share your session tokens or license keys with others.
3. Subscriptions and Payments
- Free tier: 300,000 tokens per month, all features included, no payment required.
- Paid tiers: Starter ($8/month), Builder ($15/month), and Pro ($20/month). Billed monthly through Lemon Squeezy.
- Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of your current billing period. No refunds for partial months.
- Token reset: Monthly token allowances reset on the 1st of each calendar month.
- Price changes: We may adjust pricing with 30 days notice. Existing subscribers keep their current rate until the next billing cycle after notice.
4. What You Own
Your code is yours. Your wiki content (the .lore/ directory) is yours. Your learning documents are yours. Lore does not claim any ownership or rights over your code, project data, or generated wiki content. Everything stays on your machine unless you choose to share it.
5. What We Process
When you use Lore, the following data is sent to our API proxy:
- Your conversation messages (questions you ask and code context)
- Wiki content relevant to the current session
- Authentication tokens for account verification
This data is forwarded to the AI model provider (currently OpenRouter) for processing. We do not permanently store your conversation content on our servers. Token usage counts are tracked for billing purposes.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or redistribute the Lore binary
- Use the Service to generate malicious code, malware, or exploit code
- Circumvent token limits or authentication mechanisms
- Resell access to the Service without written permission
- Use automated tools to consume tokens at scale beyond normal development use
7. Service Availability
Lore is provided "as is." We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The AI model, API proxy, and authentication systems may experience downtime for maintenance or due to upstream provider issues. We are not liable for lost work due to service interruptions.
8. AI Output Disclaimer
Lore uses AI models to generate code suggestions, explanations, and wiki content. AI output may contain errors, bugs, or security vulnerabilities. You are responsible for reviewing and testing all code changes before using them in production. Lore provides diff preview and rollback features to help with this, but ultimate responsibility for your code lies with you.
9. Data and Privacy
- We collect your email address and Google account identifier for authentication.
- We track token usage per account for billing and limit enforcement.
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- Conversation content is processed in-transit but not stored permanently on our servers.
- Your
.lore/directory and all wiki data remain local to your machine.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lore and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Significant changes will be communicated via the changelog or email.
12. Contact
For questions about these terms, reach out on Twitter/X (@tana_shahh) or email the support address listed on your Lemon Squeezy receipt.
